2021 World Championship Standings Update

On Thursday June 16, 2022, USADA released the following information regarding Felipe Pena.

“USADA announced today that Felipe Pena, of Minas Gerais, Brazil, an athlete in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has accepted a one-year period of ineligibility for his second anti-doping rule violation. Pena’s one-year period of ineligibility began on January 7, 2022, the date his provisional suspension was imposed. In addition, Pena has been disqualified from all competitive results achieved in competitions sanctioned by the IBJJF, or any Code signatory, on and subsequent to December 12, 2021, the date his positive sample was collected, including forfeiture of any medals, points, and prizes. IBJJF has agreed to impose the sanction.”

As a result of the sanction referenced by USADA above, the results of the 2021 adult male black belt open class are as follows:

1st place - Fellipe Andrew

3rd place - Kaynan Duarte

3rd place - Max Gimenis

The adult male black belt super-heavy division results have also changed. Harryson Pereira was awarded third place. The overall team points have been updated, with no changes to the standing of the top three teams.
