On Saturday June 3rd, Gabrieli Pessanha was awarded the Athlete Double Grand Slam award for the 2022/2023 season. This award was earned by winning consecutive titles at the Europeans, Pans, Brasileiros, and World Championships, and was her second time achieving this incredible feat. Since being promoted to black belt back in 2019, Gabrieli has never been submitted in competition. She is also currently riding a 71 match undefeated streak in IBJJF competition that started at the 2021 World Championships. Though she’s shown an incredible level of dominance at the black belt level for over four years now, she’s taken her game to a whole new level in 2023.
