Boise International Open Results: Rafael dos Anjos and Jhenifer Aquino Win Gi and No-Gi Divisions in Idaho

The Boise International Open took place on March 26th and 27th with gi and no-gi divisions at the Expo Idaho. Black belts registered to compete included Lívio Ribeiro, Jhenifer Aquino, Fellipe Andrew, and Rafael dos Anjos.

Gold medalists in the adult male black belt divisions included Livio Ribeiro of Ares BJJ at featherweight, Breno Bittencourt of Ares BJJ at lightweight, Ellis Younger of ECJJA at middleweight, Rafael dos Anjos of Alliance at medium heavy, Tyrone Gonsalves of Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu at heavy, Fellipe Andrew of Alliance at super-heavy, and Kristóf Szucs of Gracie Barra at ultra-heavy.

In the open class, it was medium-heavy champion Rafael dos Anjos who would take the top spot on the podium. Rafael won two matches and then closed out the final with Alliance teammate Fellipe Andrew. Rafael also competed in no-gi on Sunday where he won the open class after three matches.

Female adult black belt gold medalists were Jhenifer Aquino of Atos Jiu-Jitsu at rooster weight and Andreza Morais of Ares BJJ at middleweight. In the open class, it was rooster weight Jhenifer Aquino who took home another gold medal. She defeated Brenda Dang of Legion American Jiu-Jitsu in the semi-finals and closed out the final with Atos teammate Heather Woods.

The next IBJJF event will be the Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships taking place in Kissimmee, Florida from April 6th through the 11th.
