Brazilian National Interview: Mica Galvao

Mica Galvão gave us a few minutes of his time to sit down and answer a few questions leading up to the Brazilian Nationals this weekend. Galvão is fighting in the Middleweight division and is hoping to earn more points to qualify for the World Championship in early June. Here is his short Q&A.

1. How many times have you competed at Brasileiros and what were your results?

I’ve competed only 2 times at the Brasileiros. The first time was as an orange belt and the second time was as a blue belt, the year of my grand slam.

2. How do you like competing in Brazil vs the US? Is the energy different?

I really like competing in the US and Brazil but I think that competing at home feels a little different because of the energy. The Brasileiros just have something different about them and I never get tired of this feeling.

3. How are you feeling mentally and technically heading into the Brasileiros and what are your expectations for the middleweight division?

I feel really good going to the competition. I think that I’m in my best shape and technical level. For the middleweight division my expectations are very high because there’s tough competitors and I can’t wait to go there and have some good battles
