The 2026 World Championships highlights the pinnacle of jiu-jitsu competition, it also maintains the integrity of the sport. Due to rule infractions from a pair of athletes, the World Championship results have been revised.

2026 World Championship Male Podium Updates

Due to an anti-doping infraction by Rider Zuchi, the Adult Black Belt Male Heavyweight and Male Team standings have been revised. Rider has accepted his infraction and period of ineligibility beginning on July 1, 2026. A USADA statement released the information to the public and confirmed that Rider, “has accepted a three-year period of ineligibility for an anti-doping rule violation after testing positive for multiple prohibited substances… (Rider) has been disqualified from all competitive results obtained in competitions sanctioned by the IBJJF on and subsequent to August 23, 2024, the date he began using the prohibited substances, including forfeiture of any medals, points, and prizes.” USADA’s full statement regarding the infraction can be found in the IBJJF News article.

 

Due to the infraction multiple changes to the Adult Male Black Belt results have been published. Nicholas Maglicic is now the Adult Male Black Belt Heavyweight gold medalist. Leo Ferreira is now the Adult Male Black Belt Heavyweight silver medalist. Francisco Papasidero is now the Adult Male Black Belt Heavyweight bronze medalist. With Francisco’s added points, AOJ is now officially the Adult Male Team bronze medalist.

2026 World Championship Female Podium Updates

Due to an anti-doping infraction committed by Tayane Porfirio, the Adult Female Black Belt Super-Heavyweight, Open Class, and Overall Female Team results have been revised. Tayane has accepted her infraction and three-month period of ineligibility beginning on July 8th, 2026. A USADA statement released the information to the public and confirmed that Tayane’s infraction, "occurred out-of-competition and was unrelated to sport performance.” USADA’s full statement regarding the infraction can be found in the IBJJF News article.

 

Due to the infraction, several changes to the Adult Black Belt Female results have been published. Sarah Galvão is now the official Adult Female Open Class silver medalist. Her added points provided Atos Jiu-Jitsu with sufficient points to surpass Alliance for the overall Adult Female Team Trophy. In addition, Luane Carvalho is officially recognized as the Adult Female Black Belt Super-Heavyweight silver medalist.
