Five Gold Medals in Five Weeks: The Rise of Poland's Pawel Jaworski
Poland's Pawel Jaworski Eyes No-Gi Worlds Gold

Pawel Jaworski might be a new name on the IBJJF black belt circuit, but that should not mislead you. The Academia Gorila athlete, under the guidance of head coach Marcin Polczyk, is making significant waves with exceptional performances. Poland has its next star athlete, and he is poised for the biggest stage.
“Winning that title (No-Gi World Championship) is definitely a dream of mine,” Pawel shared, “but I’m not putting extra pressure on myself. I just want to perform at my best without unnecessary stress.”
Jaworski began his 2025 no-gi championship campaign at Pan No-Gi in early October, capturing his first major black belt title with a gold medal in the medium-heavy division. This impressive achievement was followed by a strong run at the European No-Gi Championships, where he secured double gold. At just 21 years old, Pawel has earned double gold at the European No-Gi Championships across purple, brown, and black belts, respectively. “The biggest highlight of this year for me was definitely the No-Gi European Championships, where I managed to win double gold for the first time at the black belt level.” Most notably, of his nine European No-Gi Championship matches, seven opponents were forced to tap.

One week later, Pawel hit the mats at the IBJJF Dublin Open, demonstrating his submission prowess en route to earning another double gold. Over the course of three tournaments within five weeks, Pawel collected five gold medals, with a single bronze. The ‘up-and-coming’ Polish phenom is making a statement: he has arrived.
The secret to his success lies beneath his calm demeanor. Jaworski unleashes relentless submission attacks, routinely overwhelming his opponents. He prefers lower body submissions, utilizing a phenomenal guard to elevate, entangle, and finish matches. It comes as no surprise that his latest instructional highlights inside heel hook variations, and the false reap, one of the most dangerous positions in his arsenal. In his short tenure at black belt, Pawel has established himself as one of the best guard players in the world.
“Being quite flexible sometimes allows me to enter leg locks from really unusual, almost weird positions. Even I don’t fully understand it at times. I want to put on exciting matches that won’t bore the audience.”
A closer look at his game may remind you of another European star, Mateusz Szczecinski, who is both a training partner and coach to Pawel at Academia Gorila. “Academia Gorila is an incredible place. I think it is the first gym in Europe that truly allows young athletes to make a living from jiu-jitsu and treat the sport seriously,” Pawel remarked, “Brazilian jiu-jitsu is becoming really popular in Poland, and I’m sure we’ll see even more Polish athletes rising soon.”

The young Polish star has proven his effectiveness against various styles and weight classes at the highest level. His combination of athleticism, laser-like precision, and relentless mindset more than compensates for his relative inexperience at jiu-jitsu’s highest level.
There is no doubt that Pawel Jaworski has his sights set on gold at the No-Gi World Championships in mid-December. To achieve this goal, he will face a gauntlet of proven competitors, including a potential rematch with Wallisson Souza, the reigning Medium-Heavy No-Gi World Champion whom Pawel defeated by advantage at Pans. Pawel is a must-watch competitor as he aims to cap off his spectacular 2025 no-gi season with a World Championship bouquet.
“I simply want to be known for having beautiful and effective jiu-jitsu, and that is really it. I guess we’ll find out in December whether I really have world champion level skills”.
