Jackson Nagai made a triumphant return to the country that helped mold the very man he has become. After nearly twelve years away from Japan, Jackson made his way back to the birthplace of his jiu-jitsu journey. 

Jackson moved to Japan at the age of twelve, and continued to immerse himself in the culture until he was twenty-one years old. During that time, Jackson learned the language fluently and adopted many of the cultural values that continue to define his life. 

If you know Jackson you know he has the samurai spirit. He remains devoted to the bushido code that not only defines his athletic pursuits, but also his life outside of the mats. 

His return to the 2026 Asian Championships marked a significant moment for the Inevat athlete. Once leaving Japan as a young man, Jackson returned as a husband, gym owner, and World Champion athlete.

He celebrated his remarkable return with a 100% submission run through four matches to claim middleweight gold. Jackson displayed his usual dynamic style by relentlessly attacking submissions, even at the risk of exposing opportunities for his opponents. Amongst his many submissions, Jackson delivered smooth guard passing and back-defense as he captured his first Asian title in style.
