Miami Fall International Open Results: Carlson Gracie Team Wins Team Title In Florida Gi Event

Miami Dade College held the 2022 Miami Fall International Open. The gi event was the second in Miami this year, with the Miami Winter Open taking place all the way back in February. The overall team title was tightly contested, with Carlson Gracie Team edging out Fights Sports for the first place spot.
The adult male open class winner of the event was Alliance’s Fellipe Andrew, who didn’t have a match in his weight class but competed in the open category. In the open class final, Fellipe pulled guard and started working his due la riva game. He transitioned to a lapel control and looked to off balance his opponent. As his opponent attempted to disengage from the legs and pass the guard, Fellipe capitalized on a mistake and caught a triangle armbar combination to get the finish. The match ended a minute and a half in and led Fellipe to another open class gold medal ahead of his GP super fight with Roosevelt Sousa of Fight Sports. Leticia Cardozo, another Alliance representative, took gold in the female black belt open class.
R1NG BJJ’s Eduardo Roque competed in the lightweight division in Miami where he had three victories. He won his first match by submission and his second by points to advance to the final against Daniel Sathler of Atos. Eduardo won a close 2-0 match, scoring the only points of the match via sweep. Fabricio Barbarotti of PSLPB Cicero Costha won the middleweight division, getting the ref’s decision in both matches.
At heavyweight, it was Lucas Lisboa of Fight Sports who took home gold. In 2022 Lucas has won gold at open tournaments in Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, and Dallas, and continued his run of successful events in Miami. He only had one match, a twenty second armbar submission that earned him yet another first place finish.
