Las Vegas, Nevada is set to witness a highly anticipated medium-heavyweight super fight as Ronaldo Junior and Sebastian Rodriguez prepare to face off at the IBJJF Absolute Grand Prix. This thrilling encounter is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 1st, during the renowned Jiu-Jitsu CON, the largest gathering of jiu-jitsu practitioners in the world. Both athletes boast impressive credentials as Pan Champions, with Ronaldo securing the title in 2020 and Sebastian emerging victorious in 2022. However, it is their dynamic and movement-oriented styles that has the jiu-jitsu community buzzing with excitement.
Though both Ronaldo and Sebastian have been among the best in their divisions since receiving their black belts, this will be their first black belt encounter. Both athletes are revered for the way they approach their matches. They are not merely content with securing points; instead, they are relentless in their pursuit of a submission finish. 2023 has been a tremendous year for Ronaldo Junior. So far he's won gold at American Nationals, won his IBJJF GP super fight, taken third at the Pans, and won multiple open events. He took third at the World Championships at medium-heavy and medaled at open tournaments in Florida, Tennessee, and Texas, continually challenging himself against the best opposition he can find.
