2023 Oklahoma City International Open Results: Lovato Jiu-Jitsu Wins 4th Straight OKC Title

The International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation returned to Oklahoma City for the fourth time on Saturday February 4th and Sunday February 5th. Southern Nazarene University was the location of the gi and no-gi event. Lovato Jiu-Jitsu, led by Professor Rafael Lovato Jr. and based out of Oklahoma City, brought the biggest team to the event with 76 competitors registered and won the team title for the fourth straight year.
For the second straight weekend, Emily Fernandez of LEAD BJJ was the female adult black belt open class champion. After winning the open class title in Austin, she returned to Oklahoma City and won another gold medal.
Alliance had a great overall showing as a team, especially in the adult male black belt divisions. Steffen Banta, Joao Gabriel Rocha, and Guilherme Augusto all won gold. Steffen, who was making his black belt debut, took gold at super heavy. His coach, Joao Gabriel Rocha, won gold for the second straight weekend in the ultra-heavy division. The open class division belonged to 2X Brazilian National Champion Guilherme Augusto, who competed for the first time since the 2022 World Championships.
