The 2026 Crown is building a phenomenal list of athletes for its fourth edition. Forty-eight world-class athletes will converge inside the famous Long Beach Pyramid on November 8th with hopes of securing one of the most sought after trophies in the sport, as well as the $20,000 cash prize.
José Steve is officially the third middleweight contender announced for the 2026 IBJJF Crown. The DreamArt product returns to the prestigious event as a more experienced and confident competitor now with a full year at the highest level.
Jose’s Middleweight Crown Contention
The ‘Iceman’ completed a strong rookie season that witnessed him grace Grand Slam finals mats on two occasions. The Brasileiro and European Championships silver medalist displayed the technique, athleticism, and showmanship for which he has become renowned.
José completed his 2026 Gi campaign with a bronze medal performance at the World Championships, again proving his ability to contend with the division’s top athletes. The Belgium native now prepares to make his second consecutive Crown appearance at twenty-four years old.
José joins Tarcisio Santos and Rafael Gamba as the third middleweight athlete to be announced. The young trio projects to bring distinct energy and athleticism to a 181lb division that awaits its final five contenders.
