Natan Chueng 2026 IBJJF Crown announcement

2026 IBJJF Crown Announcement

The 2026 Crown is building a phenomenal list of athletes for its fourth edition. Forty-eight world-class competitors will converge inside the famous Long Beach Pyramid on November 8th with hopes of securing one of the most sought after trophies in the sport, as well as the $20,000 cash prize.

Jackson Nagai has officially been removed from the 2026 Crown middleweight division due to illness. Natan Chueng stepped up on less than three weeks' notice to accept the challenge. The Unity Jiu-Jitsu standout prepares to take on a stacked middleweight division with eyes on the throne.

Natan Chueng - Worlds Run to Crown Invite

Natan Chueng finalized his 2026 Gi Grand Slam campaign with a phenomenal performance at the World Championships. The Unity product displayed strong tactical and technical ability in victories over top middleweight contenders, Tommy Langaker and Jose Steve, en route to a Worlds silver medal.

Natan utilizes a balanced attack highlighted by distinct control in his guard. His steady pace can make his performances feel routine, despite consistently confronting the division’s most elite athletes. Natan enters the Crown event as a dark horse with veteran experience and a dangerous skillset.

The middleweight division is drawing immense recognition ahead of the 2026 Crown. The 181lb division boasts exciting names such as Mica Galvao, Andy Murasaki, Uanderson Ferreira, Tarcisio Santos, Jose Steve, Leo Souza, and Rafael Gamba. Natan certainly has his work cut out for him, especially as a short notice invitee.

The event is scheduled for November 8th from the Pyramid in Long Beach, California. Stay tuned to official IBJJF channels for continued updates surrounding the 2026 IBJJF Crown.
