Alliance Wins Historic 15th IBJJF World Team Title
Alliance Adds to Its Legacy with a 15th World Team Title.
The 2025 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship was one of the most tightly contested team races in recent memory, and when the final points were tallied, it was Alliance Jiu-Jitsu that stood at the top of the podium once again. With this victory, Alliance secured its 15th IBJJF World Championship team title, further cementing its legacy as one of the greatest teams in the history of jiu-jitsu.
Founded by Fabio Gurgel, Alexandre “Gigi” Paiva, and Romero “Jacaré” Cavalcanti, Alliance has long been a model of excellence in the sport. Built on a foundation of precise technique, strong leadership, and unwavering commitment to its values, the team has remained among the highest levels of competition for over two decades.
This year’s title marks back-to-back world championships for the team and is a testament to both its enduring legacy and continued evolution. Alliance started off the Worlds strong, delivering outstanding performances from its blue, purple, and brown belt competitors. These performances allowed Alliance to take the lead heading into the black belt finals on Sunday.
With powerhouse teams like AOJ, Dream Art, Checkmat, and Atos in close contention, every point mattered. The title was not secured until the final matches of the weekend. Alliance’s black belts rose to the occasion as Jalen Fonacier, Leonardo Mario, Leonardo Ferreira, Marcus “Scooby” Ribeiro, Elizabeth Mitrovic, and Tayane Porfirio all made it onto the podium. With these critical results, Alliance managed to edge out AOJ by a final score of 86 to 74.
While the competition team continues to achieve greatness on the mats, Alliance’s impact extends far beyond tournament results. With academies across the globe and a commitment to developing both athletes and leaders, the team remains dedicated to its mission of changing lives through Jiu-Jitsu.
Fifteen world titles is more than a number, it’s a symbol of consistency, unity, and the power of a shared purpose. And as Alliance celebrates this milestone, one thing is clear: the team’s best chapters may still lie ahead.
