Brasileiro Sem Kimono Results: Atos and Dream Art Win Male And Female Titles

The Brasileiro Sem Kimono tournament took place on Saturday August 13th and Sunday August 14th. The event brought many of Brazil’s best no-gi competitors, many of whom are preparing for the recently announced No-Gi Pan and No-Gi World tournaments.

Fernanda Mazzelli was the standout competitor of the event. She competed in the super heavy division, winning two matches to take gold. Fernanda also competed in the open class, reaching the final after two victories. Her open class final was against Thaynara Dias of Double Five. Fernanda won the match on points to go 5-0 on the weekend and take double gold at the event.

Lucas Pinheiro of Atos competed in the light-feather division and won three matches to take gold. He used his well-rounded game to score sweeps and guard passes on his way to victory. At featherweight it was 2022 World Champion Meyram Alves who stood atop the podium. Meyram’s four wins included two armbars and two rear naked choke finishes setup from his lightning quick takedowns and guard passes.

Jansen Gomes of CheckMat won no-gi gold for the second weekend in a row after winning in Vitoria one week ago. This time Jansen had three matches, defeating Servio Tulio, Luan Carvalho, and Romualdo Lucas De Andrade. The open class belonged to Henrique Ceconi. Ceconi won four matches to take gold, including hard fought semi-final and final matches with Wallace Costa and Antonio Assef, respectively.

IBJJF Hall of Fame member Hannette Staack returned to Brazil to compete for the first time in her home country in 15 years. She competed in the middleweight division where she faced Joslea Silva Rodrigues in the final. Hannette dominated the match from start to finish, scoring an early takedown that led to a guard pass and a mount. She worked to submit her opponent for the remainder of the match and ended up winning by a 9-0 margin.

GF Team’s Julia Boscher also had a great showing at the event. Her first match was a semi-final against Raiane Mara Dos Santos of Gracie Barra. Julia would win that match and move on to the final against Natalia Zumba. The final was back and forth as both competitors looked to attack each others legs. It was Julia’s attacks that prevailed, however, as she locked on a match ending heel hook that earned her the gold medal.
