Brianna Ste-Marie Is The First Competitor Confirmed For The Crown 64 kg Division
The World No-Gi Champion is set to take on the 64 kg division at the prestigious Crown event.
The first athlete confirmed for The Crown in the female 64 kg division is 2022 World No-Gi Champion Brianna Ste-Marie. Brianna's journey to The Crown has been nothing short of remarkable, and her presence in the event promises to be a game-changer. Brianna was promoted to black belt in December 2021 by Professors Fabio Holanda and Leonardo Saggioro of Brazilian Top Team. Throughout her career, she’s honed her skills at the Brazilian Top Team Canada Headquarters in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Before reaching black belt status, Brianna had already carved out a name for herself on the competition scene as a colored belt competitor. She claimed numerous titles at some of the sport's most prestigious events, including the Worlds No-Gi, Pans, Pans No-Gi, Europeans, and American Nationals. Her winning performances on the mats are characterized by her incredible half guard, which she uses to control and sweep opponents, as well as her pressure passing when in top position. Brianna's most significant achievement came in December 2022 when she clinched the World No-Gi Championship gold medal in the lightweight division, where she won all of her matches via submission. It was Brianna’s first Worlds No-Gi as a black belt. She returned to the gi in 2023, where she competed at the Brasileiros and the Worlds. At the Worlds, Brianna took home the bronze medal in the lightweight division after defeating three world-class opponents before losing a very close match to two-time Worlds silver medalist Janaina Lebre. Her results in her short time at black belt have made Brianna a highly respected competitor who is capable of winning any division she enters.
