CheckMat’s Jackson Nagai Is Coming For The Middleweight Crown

The World's bronze medalist is coming to The Crown.

On Sunday, November 19th, in Long Beach, California, The IBJJF Crown will take place at the iconic Pyramid. The excitement for the event continues to build as more world-class athletes are announced. CheckMat’s Jackson Nagai is the latest addition to The Crown, as he is now set to compete in the middleweight division. The middleweight division in jiu-jitsu has long been renowned for its fierce competition and the high caliber of athletes in the category. Unlike many of his peers who started their training at a young age, Jackson took up the sport relatively late. It's been just a few years since he committed himself full-time to training and competition. In 2020, Jackson was awarded his black belt from Professor Lucas Leite, one of the top coaches in the game. That same year, Jackson competed at the Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships, earning a silver medal in his first competition as a black belt. Taking a brief hiatus from competition in 2022 allowed Jackson to refine his skills and prepare for a triumphant return in 2023. This year, he’s secured the American National title, an Absolute GP super fight title, and earned a bronze medal at the World Championships. Jackson's style is both fluid and aggression, a combination that makes him a very difficult opponent to prepare for. His approach to competition is tailor-made for an event like The Crown, where he’ll have the opportunity to display his fan-friendly game on a huge stage. Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 19th, and tune in to FloGrappling to see if Jackson Nagai will take home the middleweight Crown. If you can’t make the event live, be sure to catch the stream on FloGrappling. See the following link for more information on this historic event.
