In its return to the city of New Orleans, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) hosted the New Orleans Fall Open on November 4th, 2023, at the Pontchartrain Convention & Civic Center in Kenner, Louisiana. The event featured an outstanding performance by Inicio Jiu-Jitsu, as they clinched both gi and no-gi titles, their first team titles at an IBJJF tournament.

Inacio Santos of Reaction MMA / SAS emerged as a standout competitor, showcasing his skills in the absolute division in the gi. In addition to his absolute gold medal in the gi, he also secured silver in the no-gi absolute division. Inacio's impressive performance consisted of two victories in the gi and a respectable 1-1 record in no-gi. His dedication to the sport was evident as he immediately transitioned to the Miami tournament the following day, where he claimed the no-gi absolute title.

Another standout of the event was Austin Oranday, who put on a remarkable performance in the no-gi category. Throughout 2023, Austin had consistently demonstrated his abilities, securing gold in multiple open events across the country. Austin, when reflecting on his accomplishments, stated, “I felt great in my performance at the New Orleans Open this past weekend. I had three fights with three submissions in no gi. My future goals are currently preparing for Nashville Open, Atlanta Open and Waco Open with my big goal to become a top 10 ranked IBJJF no-gi adult black belt athlete and to become a 2023 No-Gi World Champion.” In addition to his no-gi title, Austin also secured a second-place finish in the medium-heavyweight category and a third-place finish in the open class in the gi.
