Elite Blue Belts Converge at the Third Major of the Year

Top blue belt prospects are poised to contend for Grand Slam event glory at Brasileiros.  Reigning European and Pan champions return to defend their division supremacy, while emerging contenders on the 2026 major circuit enter the brackets, seeking global recognition under the intense spotlight.  The depth of talent within the blue belt category is astounding, fueling immense anticipation for the third Grand Slam event of the season.

Male

Johnny Anderson

One of Gracie Barra Upland’s brightest young prospects, Johnny Anderson, is set to rejoin the grand slam circuit as he aims for his third major title of the 2026 season. The light-featherweight phenom has commenced his adult career with triumphs at both the Pan and European Championships, proving the hype is real. In four fights at Pans, Johnny submitted all four of his opponents in distinct fashion, showcasing the variability in his high-level submission game. The European Championships displayed the young prospect’s durability, as he navigated a 114-competitor bracket, securing six victories en route to his inaugural title at the adult level. In addition to his grand slam event success, Johnny captured the IBJJF Grand Prix spotlight with a superfight win over a fellow elite-level blue belt from the featherweight division. While celebrated for his sophisticated guard play, Johnny has proven that his commanding top control is equally formidable. With ninety-three legitimate competitors in the light-featherweight bracket, Johnny certainly has a dangerous path en route to potentially collecting his third major title of the season. 

 

Alyson Lima

An electrifying talent from CheckMat has captured the jiu-jitsu world’s recognition. Alyson Lima has established a dominant presence in the lightweight division across both the 2026 Pan and European Championship events. The explosive athlete employs a powerful combination of standing technique and top presence to control his opponents before hunting submission finishes.  His relentless approach guarantees non-stop action, featuring incredible scrambles and a high-paced technical onslaught. Across two major events this season, Alyson maintains a flawless 14-0 record, cementing his status as a premier prospect in the blue belt category.  The lightweight division is saturated with 120 of the world’s top athletes, vying for their share of the Brasileiro spotlight.  With proven durability to outlast a vast bracket, Alyson seems positioned to secure his third Grand Slam event gold and extend his dominant blue belt campaign.  

 

Brendo Rozendo

Brendo Rozendo, an exciting prospect representing Atos Jiu-Jitsu, is slated to compete in the featherweight division at the 2026 Brasileiros. Brendo concluded his 2025 season on a high note by securing a No-Gi World Championship title in the blue belt category. His sole outing this campaign witnessed him capture the featherweight Pan title in resounding fashion. Julio Cesar

Julio Cesar delivered one of the most impressive performances in the European Championship blue belt category.  The young CheckMat sensation triumphed in the featherweight division amongst 134 fellow competitors.  Through seven matches at the event, Julio secured a pair of submissions and showcased his relentless pace and durability.  Utilizing a seemingly endless gas tank, Julio continuously provokes action and stays offensive throughout each of his matches, marking him as a distinctively exciting prospect.  Julio enters the event as the #4 ranked male blue belt globally, generating immense anticipation for his Brasileiro title contention.
 

Bruno Garcez

The #5 ranked blue belt in the world is poised to contend for the ultra-heavyweight Brasileiro title.  Bruno ‘Giga’ Garcez has enjoyed a phenomenal start to the 2026 season with triumphs at both Pan and European Championship events.  Beginning the campaign at Europeans, Bruno was able to showcase his dominant control and top-pressure, culminating in a weight-division title and an open class bronze medal.  With that success behind him, Bruno rejoined major title contention at Pans with increased expectations.  Giga certainly delivered with an astounding double-gold performance through six matches against high-level competition.  The Alliance standout displays strong guard passing technique, in combination with intimidating physicality and a relentless work rate.  Giga’s inclusion in the 2026 Brasileiro provides fans with an opportunity to witness one of the brightest blue belt prospects chase his fourth and possibly fifth grand slam event titles.

 

Rhenzo Gama

Soldiers Jiu-Jitsu boasts a rising prospect in the medium-heavyweight blue belt division.  Rhenzo Gama recently secured his first major title at the blue belt level, with an electrifying performance at the 2026 Pans.  As the #3 ranked athlete on the Brazilian circuit (CBJJ), Rhenzo sets his sights on Brasileiro gold.  A dynamic athlete boasting a well-balanced attack, the Soldier’s competitor headlines the medium-heavyweight division as he searches for his second grand slam event triumph of the season.  Rhenzo will be challenged throughout his 61-competitor bracket, with other notable prospects such as Guilherme Camargo and Tulio Filho vying for the Brasileiro title. 

 

Arthur Cunha

A promising force in the heavyweight division rejoins major title contention in Brazil.  Arthur ‘Gordão’ Cunha of DreamArt is poised to contend for his second major title of the 2026 season.  In five matches at the European Championships, Arthur secured three submissions and his second adult triumph at the event.  Gordão has built an impressive resume at the blue belt level, beginning in the juvenile division where he secured silver and bronze medals at the 2024 Worlds.  He then secured a major title in his first opportunity at the adult level at the 2025 Euros, and ended the year with an impressive double-silver performance at Worlds.  Arthur now hopes his current season signifies a breakout campaign as he aims for a second major title of 2026 at Brasileiros.  The DreamArt prospect combines formidable physicality and smooth transitioning to overwhelm his opponents with constant pressure.  It has become clear that Gordão is a significant double-gold threat to any heavyweight division he enters.

 

Guilherme Camargo

The #2 ranked athlete on the Brazilian circuit prepares to make a run towards medium-heavyweight gold at Brasileiros.  Guilherme Camargo of CheckMat has earned the status of one of the brightest blue belt prospects in the sport at just nineteen years old.  Guilherme commenced his 2026 season with a European Championship title performance that witnessed him claim five victories over high-level opponents.  Shifting his focus towards potential Brasileiro glory, the CheckMat athlete has proven he has the ability to command the medium-heavyweight division.  His weight division boasts sixty-one fellow competitors, including Tulio Filho and fellow watchlist athlete Rhenoz Gama.  The young prospect eyes his second grand slam event triumph of the 2026 season, and hopes to capture his share of the Brasileiro spotlight.

 

CJJ Circuit Watchlist

The wealth of talent competing primarily within CBJJ competition will be on full display at Brasileiros.  Athletes who have dominated within the Brazilian circuit aim to defend their home nation with commanding performances at the third grand slam event of the season.  The male blue belt division boasts bright young Brazilian prospects such as Murilo Cardoso who has taken silver medals at both Pan and European Championships in 2026.  Joao Alves of DreamArt enters the ultra-heavyweight division as the #4 ranked CBJJ athlete.  Joao has back-to-back Worlds bronze medal performances, as he vies for his first major title at the blue belt level.  Vision prospect, Gabriel Pinto, hopes to claim his breakthrough moment of 2026 following a pair of bronze medals through two major events this season.  CheckMat’s Davi Cruz is poised to challenge for the middleweight title, entering the event as a top ten ranked CBJJ athlete.  Fellow CheckMat prospect, Natan Lima, hopes to capture his first major title after garnering momentum from his Pan bronze medal outing.  Bryan Fagundes of Alliance secured his own major bronze medal at the European Championships earlier this year as he joins the Brasileiro light-featherweight division.  Alexandre Cardoso represents Cicero Costha as the #15 ranked CBJJ competitor, vying for roosterweight glory at Brasileiros.  Fans can expect passionate performances from a talented collection of Brazilian athletes who are poised to challenge for their respective titles in Sao Paulo.

 

Females

Chloe Pereira

The top-ranked female blue belt in the world rejoins major title contention at Brasileiro.  Chloe Pereira of Marcio Andre Jiu-Jitsu, is enjoying a phenomenal 2026 campaign having already secured Pan and European Championship titles this season.  The roosterweight sensation commenced her competition year with a dominant Euros performance in which she submitted all three of her opponents en route to earning the gold medal.  Chloe then enlisted in Pans competition where she again delivered an astounding performance, securing a pair of submissions and the roosterweight title.  Displaying phenomenal guard play in combination with an onslaught of submission sequences, Chloe hopes to continue her winning ways at the third grand slam event of 2026.  Her opponents must be keen to her lightning fast triangle and armbar setups, which she uses regularly to either sweep or submit.  With four major titles already achieved at the blue belt level, Chloe is creating a resume that cannot be overlooked.

 

Izabelly Silva

Cohab Team BJJ boasts a bright prospect by the name of Izabelly Silva.  Her breakout performance came in January of this year, when she delivered a commanding performance in the light-featherweight division of the European Championships.  Izabelly showcased technical brilliance throughout her gold medal run, proving she belongs in the elite blue belt conversation.  The young talent joins a stacked light-featherweight division at Brasileiros, including the fellow European Championship finalist Ariadne Medina.  A potential rematch from the Euro final would surely provide intense energy, as the initial matchup showcased back-and-forth action in which Izabelly displayed admirable technique and spirit in a come-from-behind victory.  She will undoubtedly enter with distinct confidence as the Cohab Team athlete searches for her second major title at the blue belt level.

 

Helena Ferreira

A rising young talent from Vision enlists in Brasileiro title contention in Sao Paulo.  Helena Ferreira made her adult debut this season, following a fantastic juvenile career in which she captured Worlds, Brasileiros, and Pan titles.  To commence her adult career, Helena delivered a spectacular performance at the European Championships, securing silver and gold medals amongst elite blue belt competitors.  In the lightweight category, Helena secured five commanding victories before falling via advantages in the finals against Alissa Lazar.  The Vision prospect then rose to the absolute challenge, claiming five more victories, including a redemption win over Lazar, to secure the open class title as a lightweight.  Helena’s undeniable talent makes her an early favorite to contend for the lightweight title at Brasileiros.

 

Rafaella Vieira

The #2 globally ranked female blue belt and #1 ranked CBJJ blue belt, Rafaella Vieira, returns to major competition.  Representing DreamArt, Rafaella has proven her ability to deliver spectacular performances under the brightest lights.  At the last edition of Brasileiro, Rafaella delivered a resounding statement by securing the medium-heavyweight title and open class silver medal.  To begin her 2026 campaign, Rafaella earned a European Championship bronze medal, retaining both confidence and motivation to return to her nation’s grand slam event with a vengeance.  Rafaella presents a well-rounded game, highlighted by her dangerous armbar system.  Fans can expect relentless attacks and strong pressure from the young prospect, as she returns to Brasileiros to defend her title.

 

Anna Pinheiro

A talented and experienced competitor at the blue belt level returns to major title contention in Sao Paulo.  Soldiers Jiu-Jitsu standout, Anna Pinheiro is slated to contend for the heavyweight title amongst thirteen fellow competitors.  Her 2026 campaign commenced with a silver and bronze medal at the European Championships, delivering an impressive performance in both the heavyweight and open class divisions.  Returning to grand slam event competition, Anna secured another bronze medal at Pans.  She is currently ranked #3 globally and #2 in CBJJ competition, attracting well-deserved attention ahead of her third major title contention of the 2026 season.  

 

Erica Andrade

A rising talent on the CBJJ circuit, Erica Andrade, is slated to contend for the middleweight title at Brasileiro.  Erica secured a bronze medal at the last edition of the event, proving her ability to perform under the heightened pressure of grand slam competition.  The Nacao Tche BJJ representative is currently the #3 ranked CBJJ athlete, with her latest competition resulting in a gold and silver medal at the Recife Open.  Erica presents a pressure-heavy style with formidable standing technique and strong guard passing.  With thirty fellow middleweight contenders, Erica will surely have a difficult path as she sets her sights on claiming her first major title at the blue belt level.

 

CBJJ Watchlist

Brasileiros is slated to host a collection of the top CBJJ female athletes in the blue belt divisions.  Kauane Lima of GF Team and Juliana Maciel of Inspirit are both entering the event with momentum from podium placements at Pans.  The #4 ranked CBJJ female blue belt, Ana Bevilacqua is set to contend for her first major title at the blue belt level.  GF Team’s Rebeca Vieira delivered a strong silver medal performance at Pans, as she returns to major competition at Brasileiros.  Iasmim Sabonaro has had success at Brasileiro events, earning a bronze in 2025 and securing the Brasileiro No-Gi title last year.  With so much talent in the female blue belt category, fans are guaranteed thrilling action from potential next-generation stars.
