Dallas and Vitória hosted the weekend’s competition card. The Brazilian circuit offered an action packed event with standout prospects competing alongside proven black belt champions. In Dallas, the no-gi competition captured much of the attention with highlight competitors staying sharp in the middle of the No-Gi Grand Slam season. Lets take a look at the weekend’s supply of outstanding performances and notable storylines from the weekend.

 

Dallas Summer Open

Dallas witnessed strong competition this weekend, with Adult Gi and No-Gi action highlighting the event. The Lone Star State represents one of the strongest sources of jiu-jitsu talent in the United States, a sentiment that was certainly proved throughout the event. Helena Crevar, João Assonitis, and Vítor Peres were among standout performers in Dallas, with plenty of other impressive champions across all belts. 

 

Helena Crevar entered the event as a globally recognized pound-for-pound star. The Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu representative continued her no-gi campaign with another double-gold performance, capturing both the super-heavyweight and open class titles. In three matches Helena secured three submission finishes, displaying the technical brilliance and submission-oriented style for which she has become world-renowned.

João Assonitis of Ephesians Six Jiu-Jitsu secured the male open class no-gi title with three victories over strong opponents. 

Vítor Peres reigned supreme in the gi open class bracket, tallying three victories to top the men’s podium. 

Carlos Neto of Rodrigo Pinheiro won a difficult medium-heavyweight division in the gi, showcasing his skills across two matches against talented contenders. 

Caio Carreira continued his impressive rookie season with a pair of wins to earn the middleweight gi gold medal. 

Coda Munson of 10/50 stood as another standout performer, capturing the lightweight title in both gi and no-gi competition. 

In color belt action, Luciano Troller asserted himself in Dallas. The Six Blades athlete completed a quadruple-gold performance with four titles between gi and no-gi competition.

Luiz Henrique of Gracie Barra captured the brown belt gi open class title with three fights, including a finals victory over standout contender and lightweight champion Rian Oliveira.

Jeniffer Tenorio and Quinn Goins both secured open class gold medals. Jeniffer captured her title in the female brown belt division, entering the bracket as a featherweight competitor and earning two victories. Quinn earned lightweight and open class gold in purple belt gi divisions with four wins in total.

There was certainly no shortage of intense matchups and elite talent on display in Dallas. The event showcased the depth of skill from color belts to standout black belt champions. 

 

Vitória Open

The Brazilian circuit featured Vitória Open action over the weekend. Standout athletes delivered incredible performances across Adult Gi & No-Gi competition. Lets take a look at the highlight outings from a bright collection of talent.

 

Luiz Felipe of Alliance made his mark on the event. ‘Filipinho’ captured double-gold with four matches in gi competition. The reigning Pan Champion seemed to be in top form over the weekend.

Marina Penedo secured the open class gold in female gi action. The Carranca Team representative earned three victories, two of which came over weight division champions. 

Cleison Santos headlined a strong lightweight division in men's competition. The Alliance standout captured three victories including a finals win over Alex Sodre to clinch the title. 

Rodrigo Sousa and Darlan Casaca completed their weekends with well-deserved hardware. Rodrigo represented GF Team in the featherweight gi division where he earned three victories to take the gold medal, while he settled for a silver medal in the no-gi lightweight division. Darlan Casaca of Atos Jiu-Jitsu took middleweight gold in the gi before capturing no-gi open class gold with a single victory. 

A pair of Pax Jiu-Jitsu females captured gold in Vitoria over the weekend. Jessica Caroline secured lightweight gi gold, while Ana Pantoja earned two victories to secure the featherweight title. 

Claudiane Lima returned to action after securing her Brasileiro No-Gi title. The GF Team athlete secured a sole victory in the light-featherweight gi division to take the title. 

Gabrielly Ribeiro of Liberty Jiu-Jitsu captured the open class no-gi title with a sole victory over Taliane Vitoria.

Gabrielli Dourado of GF Team captured brown belt gi double-gold. Gabrielli claimed middleweight gold with a single victory before earning open class gold with two more wins. 

Jose Victor secured the super-heavyweight gi title in his brown belt debut. 

Similarly, Kaike Righetti of Alliance earned gold in his first competition since winning a World Championship title as a purple belt. Kaike secured the medium-heavyweight brown belt gi gold medal with two victories.

Joao Marcos of GF Team became the open class champion with three wins through a stacked bracket.

The Vitoria Open witnessed a phenomenal collection of talent. From belt debuts to incredible double-gold outings, the jiu-jitsu community was blessed with another fantastic event. CBJJ is now set to host the Floripa Winter Open this weekend.
