After a frantic few days of competition last weekend, the competition circuit settles for two events this weekend. Both the Dallas and Vitória Opens host adult Gi & No-Gi competition alongside Kids Gi divisions. The weekend competition represents an opportunity for athletes to stay sharp and refine their skills with one month standing in the way of the prestigious Jiu-Jitsu Con event, and two months until the next No-Gi major event. Lets take a look at what fans can expect from the weekend.

Dallas Summer Open

A number of exciting prospects and World Champion athletes are slated to hit the mats in Dallas. Over 1,000 competitors test their skills and contend for gold medals to the delight of the jiu-jitsu community. Here is what jiu-jitsu enthusiasts should be on the lookout for in Dallas this weekend.

Reigning No-Gi World Champion and pound-for-pound star Helena Crevar makes her way to Dallas. Helena projects to have multiple matches between super-heavy and absolute No-Gi divisions, as she aims to continue her undefeated black belt campaign.

Samuel Nagai of Inevat Jiu-Jitsu returns to the mats. The former World Champion is enlisted in the lightweight Gi division with three fellow contenders. Sam consistently displays thrilling jiu-jitsu and projects to showcase his submission-oriented style in the lone star state.

Further Gi competition to look out for includes the middleweight and medium-heavyweight male divisions. Two GF Team rookie black belts look to control their weight divisions, as Caio Carreira and Irux Almeida continue to build experience and contend for gold medals. Eduardo Roque is a significant test for Caio in the middleweight division, and Carlos Neto is the favorite to secure the gold in medium-heavyweight competition.

In No-Gi action, Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu representatives Danilo Moreira and Welison Fernandes expect to deliver strong outings. 

João Assonitis is welcomed by a newcomer to the black belt division in Daniel Deeder. João has been on a tear in the middleweight division, as he continues to build experience and expand his skillset in pursuit of his first major No-Gi title. Daniel Deeder of Honor Roll BJJ is a young prospect with tremendous potential, this is a potential matchup you don’t want to miss.

Dylan Melton of Gracie Barra is set to make his black belt debut in Dallas. The ultra-heavyweight prospect concluded his brown belt campaign as the #5 globally ranked No-Gi athletes and the reigning Brasileiro double-gold champion.

Master athletes Sarah Block and Ricardo Evangelista are slated to compete over the weekend. Sarah is the reigning Gi and No-Gi Master 2 World Champion. Ricardo is the #1 ranked Master 2 athlete and multiple-time Master World Champion.

Color belt prospects are sure to capture their share of the Dallas Open spotlight. Rian Oliveira, the reigning Brasileiro Champion, projects to capture the lightweight gold. 

Jared Wade and Luciano Troller will likely face off in the purple belt middleweight division. Luciano is on a strong campaign, but will be pushed hard by his AOJ contender.

Vitória  Open

Vitória is set to host a remarkable collection of athletes this weekend. The black belt competitors project to put on a thrilling show, with many highly competitive divisions drawing much attention. Here are some of the most intriguing storylines heading into the event.

Welerson Gonçalves of Nova União is expected to secure the light-featherweight division gold in Gi competition. 

Alex Sodré is enlisted in both Gi and No-Gi competition as an exciting athlete capable of securing multiple gold medals. Alex has a tough lightweight Gi division that includes Cleison Santos, the reigning Brasileiro runner-up. That is a potential matchup that could steal the event spotlight.

Darlan Casaca of Atos Jiu-Jitsu is slated to contend for Gi and No-Gi titles in Vitória. Darlan has been very active as of late, and is coming off Brasileiro No-Gi silver and São Paulo Open gold.

Reigning Pan Champion and World bronze medalist Felipe Assis is set to return to action. Filipinho is certainly capable of securing double-gold in Gi competition and remains a must-watch athlete. 

Claudiane Costa is back in action after securing the Brasileiro No-Gi light-featherweight title recently. 

Jessica Caroline enters the lightweight Gi division as a reigning Worlds runner-up and former European and Pan Champion. Her recent Brasileiro No-Gi bronze will surely motivate her to top the podium again in Vitória. 

Natacha Ribeiro represents Gracie Barra as the favorite to secure heavyweight gold and a potential open class standout. 

Marina Penedo is the lone super-heavyweight athlete as she aims to continue a strong 2026 season in which she has earned three podium visits at major events.

In color belt action, Kaike Righetti of Alliance is set to make his brown belt debut. Kaike secured Brasileiro and World Championship titles in 2026 at the purple belt level, and represents one of the most promising prospects in the medium-heavyweight division.

Jose Victor of Soldiers Jiu-Jitsu makes his Open debut at the brown belt level. After a successful purple belt career that included Brasileiro and Pan titles, Jose Victor steps into brown belt competition as an immediate contender.

Between Dallas and Vitória Open events, jiu-jitsu fans have plenty of exciting matchups and wonderful athletes to follow. World Champions, belt debuts, and stacked divisions make for an incredible weekend of competition.
