Welcome back to IBJJF News, your source for the latest results and key highlights from the global jiu-jitsu community.

This past weekend featured three major IBJJF tournaments: the Austin Winter Open, the London Open, and the Sacramento Winter Open.

Our coverage begins in Texas with the Austin Winter Open, which included gi and no-gi divisions for adults, masters, and kids.

Gabriel Cardoso of Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu clinched absolute gold in the gi division, following a silver medal performance in the lightweight category. Cardoso dominated the field, completing the day with five matches and securing four submissions. Windson Torres executed an impressive three-match run to capture the no-gi absolute gold.

Juvenile blue belt, Kai McKinney, achieved double-gold in gi competition, tallying six decisive victories across the lightweight and open class divisions. Not stopping there, Kai returned for the no-gi action, earning three more triumphs en route to a second double-gold performance. The Rodrigo Pinheiro athlete departed Austin with four gold medals for the weekend. The purple belt division saw a pair of standout athletes secure double-gold. Luciano Troller claimed both the middleweight and absolute gold in the gi divisions, while Simone Grillo secured double-gold in no-gi competition.

Maya Padilla was a force in Austin, securing four gold medals across both gi and no-gi competitions. Undefeated through five matches, Maya topped the podium in the middle, medium-heavy, and open weight classes. Tayler Polhamus of Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu earned featherweight gold in the black belt no-gi division with a commanding two-match display. Bianca Barreto secured the women’s absolute gold with two powerful performances.

Meanwhile, in London, Rodrigo Mariani of CheckMat delivered a dominant performance. He seized middleweight gold with two victories, then accumulated four additional wins in the absolute division to finish his day with a flawless 6-0 record. Barbara Ruiken earned the women’s absolute gold with two swift victories, and Espen Mathiesen made a compelling return to competition, claiming ultra-heavyweight gold by submission.

Lucas Maquine of Target Team captured lightweight gold with two wins, matching the success of Leo Neves of GF Team in the featherweight division. Muhammad Ramazanov and Emilio Pettersson triumphed in the juvenile open class with titles in the gi, and Destiny Beer secured double-gold with three submissions in as many matches. Caio Viturino earned the open class black belt no-gi gold, complementing his heavyweight silver medal.

In Sacramento, Pans and Crown Champion Nolan Stuart brilliantly showcased his high-level guard on his path to gold. Francisco Papasiderio of AOJ continued his exceptional campaign in IBJJF competition, securing yet another absolute title. Aghata Rabelo of CheckMat was another notable performer, winning medium-heavyweight gold just days before her anticipated superfight against Helena Crevar at the Absolute No-Gi Grand Prix.

Beauchamp Keeve secured two gold medals across the medium-heavy and absolute divisions in the brown belt gi competition. Guilherme Theo also earned double-gold in Sacramento, dominating the purple belt gi middleweight and open divisions. Elizabeth Mitrovic secured the gi black belt absolute gold with two victories. Jaine Fragoso won the no-gi black belt absolute division through two matches in the female division.

The kids divisions were a major highlight across Austin, London, and Sacramento, with young athletes displaying impressive technical skill, composure, and sportsmanship.

Next on the schedule is the 2026 IBJJF Absolute No-Gi Grand Prix, set to take place this Thursday in Costa Mesa, California. The formidable eight-man bracket is locked in, and the event will also feature superfights showcasing some of the sport’s brightest stars.
