2026 IBJJF Crown Announcement

The 2026 Crown is building a phenomenal list of athletes for its fourth edition. Forty-eight world-class competitors will converge inside the famous Long Beach Pyramid on November 8th with hopes of securing one of the most sought after trophies in the sport, as well as the $20,000 cash prize.

Mateo Cardona is officially announced as the fifth featherweight contender at the 2026 Crown. The AOJ talent returns to the event with a full year of black belt experience under his belt.

Mateo Cardona - Eyeing Crown Breakout

Mateo accepted the Crown call in last year’s edition following a fantastic brown belt career. The rookie prospect delivered an impressive performance against the division’s eventual champion, proving his ability to contend with the world’s top athletes.

Mateo showcased a formidable game in his first Grand Slam event at the black belt level, resulting in a European silver medal. The AOJ product blends precise technique and impressive athleticism into a balanced attack capable of outdueling any opponent.
